Transforming a Home into a Showcase

When one thinks of Florida, stunning mountaintop views don’t usually come to mind. Despite the state’s mostly flat topography, there are areas where home builders can take advantage of natural elevation changes. One of those areas is found just outside Orlando, where the builders of The New American Home (TNAH) 2018 are in the process of constructing a residence overlooking Lake Apopka. This area has the highest elevations in all of the state, and makes an ideal location for a truly custom home.

Panda’s Contribution to The New American Home

Panda supplied a wide variety of window and door products, including the company’s exclusive Lift & Slide products, which are large glass door panels that slide easily on precision tracks. This allows homeowners to have an expansive wall of glass between indoor and outdoor entertainment spaces while permitting easy access to both. In the TNAH 2018 project, large glass openings were desired to help showcase the elevation changes and views of Lake Apopka – one of the few areas in Florida that offer such dramatic vistas.

Windows and Doors in the TNAH 2018 Project

Described as a “Modern Tuscan”, the TNAH 2018 project artfully balances traditional architecture with modern design elements. The project, currently underway, can be found in the Orlando area’s Bella Collina golf community, and its style reflects the area’s design aesthetic.

The entryway to the multi-level home features a custom-made double door of glass and wood. The front of the home is dominated by a ground-to-roof expanse of glass, allowing abundant natural light into the interior of the living space. Dramatic window treatments are located around the house. In the rear of the home, Panda Windows supplied a selection of multi-panel sliding glass doors, which open onto the backyard patio and outdoor pool areas.

These doors operate smoothly, thanks to the company’s carefully-designed Lift & Slide technology. While permitting lots of natural light, the sliding glass panels can be opened during favorable weather in order to eliminate the transition between inside and outside. No matter which side of the house one faces, a top-quality window or door can be found that maximizes the unique view Central Florida’s elevation provides.

The home is scheduled to be completed in Autumn 2017 and will be revealed in an official unveiling as part of the 2018 International Builders’ Show, taking place from January 9-11, 2018 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Shuttle buses will take event attendees to view the custom TNAH 2018 property.
